It is a cold, foggy, drizzly afternoon here in these costal foothills. I need a heavy sweater over a sweatshirt even indoors. This picture was taken from the patio next to my kitchen door, and normally the view includes the mountain beyond.
This morning I responsibly perused the alternative blogs like "Antiwar.com", "Common Dreams" and "The Raw Story". And I felt a potent, escapist desire to run away to an ecumenical monastery on a frozen peak in the Indian Himalayas (with a nice wood stove in the corner of my cell). It would have to be close to Yeti territory (the Bigfoot people) where neither electricity nor the GPS locating system have yet arrived. I need to move away from torture revelations, the arms-industry’s wealth and power, the Blackwater tragedies, the ubiquitous military-dictator repressions and global warming.
I want to see and hear only good news!

Es un oscuro día de frío, neblina y llovizna en esta cordillera baja de la costa. Tomé la foto desde el patio frente a mi cocina.
Esta mañana recorrí responsablemente las noticias en los blogs alternativos como “Antiwar.com”, “Common Dreams” y “The Raw Story”. Y sentí el deseo escapista de irme a un pico helado en las Himalayas de la India para meditar en un monasterio ecuménico (pero con una estufa caliente en un rincón de mi celda), cerca al territorio los Yetis (Los Bigfoot) donde nunca ha llegado la electricidad o el sistema global de ubicación satelital. Necesito alejarme de las revelaciones de tortura, las fortunas acumulas por la venta de armas, las tragedias causadas por la funesta Compañía Blackwater, las represiones de los ubicuos dictadores militares y el calentamiento global.
¡Quiero ver y escuchar sólo buenas nuevas!
