City imagery / El imaginario de la ciudad

English

Just a very brief note. Collecting city imagery has become a fascinating pastime for me, and soon will be elaborated into a shared research project at the Institute where I work. I’ll be posting some of the more interesting photos. This one was taken near the Three Graces Plaza at the southeast entrance to the Central University. It is close to one of the little, dilapidated bridges that cross the Guiare, a river so contaminated it has to be called a sewage canal. Many homeless people live nearby. What is interesting is that someone has planted corn in what is supposed to be a little ornamental garden in a space between crowded traffic lanes. Furthermore, this husbandman has carefully removed the weeds and surrounded his modest plot with protective wire.
